Dancing in Lockdown: MyCharleston's Online Dance Videos

During lockdown we have kept our dancing community busy with our new dance series ‘ Dancing at home but together’. Take a look at our first 6 videos. We still have more on the way!

The Marching Band

MyCharleston Intermediate students got together to film and edit this fun Charleston routine, based on the theme of a Marching Band, from their homes in Brighton & Hove at the start of Lockdown in March.


Bugsy Malone - Fat Sam’s Grand Slam

our dance Troupe 'Ragtime Rascals' moved their weekly rehearsals onto Zoom to perform one of their favourite routines 'Fat Sam's Grand Slam' from the musical Bugsy Malone.


Shimmy like My Sister Kate

MyCharleston students danced this fun Charleston routine, based on the song 'I wish I could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate from their homes across the UK.


Roaring 2020’s Online Speakeasy

In May 2020 MyCharleston brought together fifteen performers for an afternoon of entertainment, Charleston lessons and a dance contest at their secret online speakeasy to raise money for the charity RISE. Via Zoom, over eighty glamorously dressed guests joined in all their finery to bring the Roaring 2020s to life!


The Black Bottom

30 MyCharleston students of all ages learnt the classic 1920s dance the 'Black Bottom'. The dancers performed on Zoom in Lockdown in May. Although we are unable to dance in the studio together, we can still Charleston dance together online!


Tea for Two

Another fun video of us all on Zoom together. This time our intermediate group took on the famous Charleston dance from the musical Tea for Two.
